The Olympia Bears celebrate Homecoming with a dominant win against the Bethel Bisons’ with a score of 37-10.
The Bethel Bisons have the #1 ranked player in the state of Washington according to 247sports but that didn’t help the Bisons as they got blown out at Ingersoll Stadium in front of a packed Homecoming Trench crowd.
The Bears had a stellar first half scoring 23 points led by wide receiver Drake Hughes who scored two touchdowns. Wide Receiver Harper Hejtmanek would also score a touchdown with an amazing toe-tap catch in the back of the endzone. Quarterback Cameron Downing connected on many difficult throws leading the Bears to an amazing start. The Bear’s defense would only let up one touchdown in the entire game and let up a field goal in the 4th quarter.
The Bears didn’t let go of the pedal in the second half with Hughes and Hejtmanek scoring touchdowns of their own again to up the score to 37-10. The Bears grab their 4th win of the season, putting their record to a flawless start of 4-0. The Bears put pressure on the Bison’s offense causing many stops and leaving them stunned. The defense was led by edge rusher Braydon Cook who had 4.0 sacks and an amazing game overall.
After having a groundbreaking game, scoring three touchdowns wide receiver Drake Hughes was asked how it felt to have such an amazing game “It felt great, I have never done that before, and for me do that for in a Homecoming game, made it a lot more fun.” Hughes celebrates his Homecoming with an amazing feeling after scoring 3 touchdowns against Bethel.
Linebacker Ibrahima Diallo played an important role in the game, breaking up a pass late in the first half. Diallo was asked how the locker room felt after bringing in another gritty win for the team’s 4th straight dub.“The win was great, the locker room was loud with music and overall great vibes, but the next day, our minds were set on getting another win.” The Homecoming win doesn’t affect the team’s hunger focusing on another win this week against Bonney Lake.
The next week Olympia grabbed another win at Bonney Lake in a 28-7 demanding win. Moving the Bears record to a 5-0, the first time since 2015.
The Bears celebrate an early Homecoming with a blowout win against Bethel and plan on continuing the winning mindset and streak for the game this Friday at Spanaway Lake
