The Bears have had a thrilling season with a deep postseason run while creating a memorable journey throughout.
On November 22, the bears played their first game of state vs a tough Eastlake team, making a comeback in the matches. The Bears would go on to win that game with a final score of 3-1. Later that same day, the Bears would face their toughest opponent yet, the defending state champions Wenatchee. The bears kept on fighting, but would lose 3-0. Their run wasn’t over yet as they would play for 5th and 6th with the first game being against league rival Puyallup. This game was very close but the bears would ultimately lose by a score of 3-1. Although The Bears didn’t get the finish they wanted, they have had a great season making it far in the postseason.
There were many team goals for the postseason, one of which Holmstrom stated was, “We are excited to compete and play at a high level. We are going to focus on playing with joy and for each other!” Holmstrom has been an excellent leader and role model for this team, filling in the role of team captain and understands the importance of playing for one another.
As many could say, the Bears have been fun to watch. Nate McBride, the brother of Aubrey McBride has been to most of the games this year. Nate stated, “ My favorite moment was the win at Capital. The trench was packed and I felt the rival tension between the two teams”. Although he was spectating, he got a feel of what it’s like in terms of emotions.
The bears make a great run playing for one another and getting us in on the great emotions out there.
