Olympia High School’s girls basketball team won their playoff game against the South Kitsap Wolves on Tuesday, January 31. The Wolves were looking to gain a victory after losing to the Bears back in December of 2022. The match was closer than the last, with Kitsap playing better than before.

The Bears handled themselves well throughout the game. They started off strong, although South Kitsap managed to close the score early on. By halftime, the score was 20 – 17. In the second half of the game, the Bears managed to re-establish their lead, which they carried until the end of the game, with a final score of 53 – 37.

Ryan Geritts, assistant coach of the Girl’s Basketball team, shared his thoughts about the game. “That win is the first time that we’ve earned a [win in] our league tournament, [at] the end of the season. That’s the first time that we’ve earned a home game – first round home league tournament game and won it. And so that puts us in a significantly better spot than we’ve ever been in going into the rest of the playoffs.”

OHS students are cheering on the girls’ team as they continue into the playoffs.

Go Bears!
