Boys make a splash at NTHS

Tuesday, January 10th, the OHS boys swim team crushed North Thurston High School in a dual meet. The final score was 126 to 50! The first half of their season is going swimmingly, with an undefeated streak of 5-0.

For sophomore Matthew Jones, however, the team is about more than their wins and losses. He says it’s “the brotherhood. No matter what we’re doing we’re always there for each other. We’re a family.”

Family bonding includes practices over winter break which, according to Jones, “are the most intense part of the season. We get up to about 10,000 yards a day, and we swim the Bear Mile and New Bear’s Eve, which is when we swim every single event.”

The team truly embodies the three pillars of OHS, Pride, Courage, and Tradition. Wish the team luck for the rest of their season and Go Bears!
