With graduation just months away, seniors are balancing excitement and nerves as they reflect on high school memories and prepare for the next chapter.
As the final months approach, seniors think about their growth. From freshman year to now, they’ve made lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. Senior year is full of “lasts”.
Senior Delaney Miller shared, “All the ‘lasts’ in senior year—like the final homecoming, the last football games and thinking about the last time walking through the halls as a student. It makes you realize how far you’ve come.”
Seniors are juggling college applications and finals. 24% of students plan to immediately enter the workforce after high school, while 21% are planning for a two-year college, university, or community college. Others are looking to go to a trade school or get a certificate (9%), take a gap year(7%) or join the military(4%). Despite these different paths, the majority of seniors report feeling anxious about their future.
Senior Alexis Shelton says, “It’s tough! Some days, I feel like there’s just too much going on. But I’ve learned to prioritize and take breaks when I need to. College apps are done, so now I’m focusing on studying for finals and figuring out summer plans.”
As graduation approaches, seniors should take time to appreciate the present and not stress the little things. These final months offer a chance to make lasting memories, spend time with friends and reflect on their high school journey. Graduation marks the end of one chapter and the start of another. Embracing this transition will make the final stretch even more meaningful.
Miller states, “I’m excited but also a little nervous. It’s a huge change, but I’m ready for it. I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter, even if it’s a little scary.” This mix of excitement and nerves is a common feeling for seniors, as they prepare for the next step in their lives.
For younger students, high school may feel long, but it passes quickly. Get involved in interesting activities, stay true to your beliefs, and cherish each moment. High school is a journey—make the most of it!
