Donald Trump has won the presidential election against Kamala Harris. He won late November 5th after Pennsylvania, Georgia and Wisconsin were called. To many in Washington,
this news is devastating. However, a majority of the country has decided on Trump.
While Trump did not win the popular vote when he won in 2016, he has now become the first Republican president to win the popular vote in 20 years. Trump announced his victory in the early hours of November 6th from West Palm Beach Florida. Trump said his campaign “achieved the most incredible political thing.”
Harris’s concession came a day after the election at Howard University in Washington D.C. She offered words of encouragement to those disappointed with the results: “The light of America’s promise will always burn bright as long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.”
