Junior Camila Gomez is part of the OHS choir. She described “Last Christmas” as a “classic that everyone knows and likes” She highlighted, “When someone plays it everyone sings. It is so cute to experience!” The catchy beat mixed with descriptive lyrics make the song a holiday masterpiece.
Number two: “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey
Despite not being released until 1994, this upbeat song has become a Christmas classic. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is loved by so many for its lyrics and festive melody. Junior Kylee Good describes the song as “really catchy and fun to sing” which is why it’s her favorite Christmas song.
Number three: “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande
“Santa Tell Me” encapsulates the anticipation and excitement that comes with holiday romances. Although this song is only 10 years old, it has quickly spread around the world and became a new Christmas classic! It’s a mixture of R&B and pop, featuring great lyrics that make the song relatable to many people.

Senior Jack Brotherton shared that “Wonderful Christmastime” gets the title of his favorite Christmas song. “It’s really upbeat, and I loved it as a kid,” explained Brotherton. In junior Miles Obeng’s opinion, “a good Christmas song should be memorable, honest, catchy, and remind you what the holidays should be like.” Obeng thinks “Silent Night” is all of those things, and that’s why it is his favorite song during the holidays.
Number eight: “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” by Darlene Love
Since 1963, people have sung this heartfelt song filled with longing. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” is a true classic in the world of Christmas music, featuring festive instruments like bells and powerful vocals from Darlene Love.
Number nine: “White Christmas” by Bing Crosby
“White Christmas” is one of the most popular and best selling singles of all time. It is “such a timeless classic,” according to junior Sydney Kosa who recognized it as her favorite Christmas song. From Bing Crosby’s soft voice to catchy lyrics, “White Christmas” has been a fan favorite for generations.
Number ten: “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé
This song is a timeless classic that is stuck in the heads of almost everyone throughout the Christmas season. Released in 1950 and later covered by Michael Bublé in 2011, “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” depicts the true feelings of joy and love that surround the holiday season it’s a necessity in any Christmas playlist.
Kosa said it best: “What makes a Christmas song so special is a soothing, slow instrumental that fills you with warmth.” She added, “Christmas music brings me so much joy and love, creating a loving environment for my friends and family!”
