In 1909 Washington State received a lovely gift. Japan’s government donated 2,000 Cherry Blossom trees to the Olympia and Seattle area. Those same trees stand tall today and each spring, an array of pink and white beauty consumes the town’s streets.

The Capitol campus is not only local, it is easily accessible and a good place to take a walk! Especially during late March, the campus comes to life with vibrant cherry blossoms. The best viewpoint is in the back of the Capitol near the sundial. Go check it out!
Wapato Hills Parks and Wright Park
Located in Tacoma, Wapato Hills Park is home to an abundance of cherry blossom trees. They are most densely populated around a basketball court. It is a beautiful place to play ball or simply observe your surroundings.
The University of Washington Quad
The most famous place for cherry blossom viewing in the state is the University of Washington’s Quad. It is in the main part of campus so don’t be surprised if there are lots of students. And definitely don’t be surprised if there are many vibrant pink trees! Although the UW is a little far, the trip is worth the beautiful views.
Washington Park Arboretum
This botanical garden is gorgeous in all seasons, but in spring the Japanese cherry blossoms thrive. Tickets are free for general admission so make it a day trip and check out what the garden has to offer. There are a variety of different trails but all include some great views of cherry blossoms!
Seward Park
Seward Park, located in Seattle Washington, is one of the city’s favorite walking spots. In the spring Seward Park comes to life with cherry blossoms that line the walking/biking trails. It is a great place to walk, sit, and of course, take pictures!
