rain down.
fog the windows & breath in the air /
fog my memories of another place.
clouds roll /
in outside & in our heads / turbulence
buffeting stiff wings & standstill hearts /
take flight /
through dead leaves sheathed in frost /
the first of the year burns my cheeks & we /
rain down /
cascadian winters moss-laden & ice-dusted /
my childhood now / red-rust iron crusted /
tears dry /
on my cheeks / oxidizing in the cold
morning air / while I forget the / sight of
a swing set
& how mulch would fly after a fall. /
how it would hurt like hail as they
rained down.
